Original gelatin silver print ca. 34 x 26,5 cm (13 ¼ x 10 ½ in); frame ca. 52x42 cm (20 ½ x 16 ½ in). Framed and under glade. Photo scuffed at the edges, not affecting the image; the mount with loss of paper. Silk ribbon in the corner of the mount with lettering “First Award. Hawaii Camera Club. Third Annual Territorial Photographic Salon of 1948.”
Historically interesting portrait of Lau Tuck (1879-1957), a Chinese-American carpenter born in Kula, Maui, one of the earliest Chinatowns in today’s United States. In the 1920s, Tuck relocated to Honolulu, where he remained until his passing.
