Ask a question

Two gelatin silver prints, each ca. 10 and ca. 20,5 x 25 cm (ca. 8 x 10 in). Both images with the stamp of “Santa Fe Railway photograph” on versos, one photo with typewritten caption on verso “Two Hopi women pursue ageless art of making and decorating pottery.” Both images have photographer’s serial number at versos: LA5689-80 and LA5689-93.

Historically interesting candid urban scenes, showing street merchants at Santa Fe Railway Stations.

One lively vernacular photo portrays an Asian woodworker meticulously crafting wooden dolls, while the other shows two Native American women painting pottery as they prepare for the arrival of the next train.
