1892-3
Three original watercolours on paper, each ca. 12,5x17,5 cm (5 x 6 ¾ in), mounted within ink-drawn frames on the original white album leaves ca. 21x27,5 cm (8 ¼ x 11 in). All watercolours captioned in period ink on the mounts. Overall very good scenic watercolours.
Three attractive watercolours drawn by a British traveller during his journey to the Middle East in 1892-1893, when he also visited Egypt and the Holy Land. The watercolours focus on the Mediterranean coast of Algeria and show the Roman aqueduct and Maqam shrine (“Moslem Kubbeh”) in Cherchell, and the environs of Mustapha Superieur. Overall beautiful watercolour views of Algeria.
