24 cardstock mounts each ca. 30 x 25 cm (11 ¾ x 9 ¼ in). With 96 mounted albumen photographs each ca. 11.5 x 8.5 cm (4 ½ x 3 ¼ in). Most photos with period printed captions on white paper labels attached to mounts (captions relate to up to four photos). Mounts slightly waved and age-toned, several mounts with mild rubbing on extremities or small tears/creases not affecting photos; a few photos faded, but overall a very good collection of interesting photos.

Over 25 photographs show Monterey and environs. They include eight views of the Hotel Del Monte and its grounds. Opening in 1880, the hotel was requisitioned by the United States Navy in 1942 for electronic technician training. It has since become the Navy Postgraduate School, which is still in operation today. Other photographs of Monterey include views of the coast and the St. Junípero Serra statue installed in Lower Presidio Park in 1891.
Over 10 interesting photographs show Santa Catalina Island, off the coast of southern California. They include views of Catalina Harbour and Little Harbour, Hotel Metropole, and the island’s coast.
Over six photographs are of Riverside, California, located near Los Angeles. They include snapshots of Magnolia Avenue, orange packers, and an orange grove. Over five photographs show San Leandro, including the “San Leandro Hotel” and the town’s “Central Grocery.”
Other photographs show views of Santa Monica Beach, northern California, the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and snapshots of likely the compiler’s friends and family.
Overall, an interesting collection of photographs showing California at the turn of the 20th century.
